BACKGROUND COLORS CAN HELP SIGNAL MODALITY IN WEB-BASED APPLICATIONS This prototype interface for e-Save.com's coupon incentive site used key background colors to indicate when a visitor had entered into a specific modality (e.g., user login, upper left). Applied consistently within the site these colors help a user understand where they are within the site and what functionality is currently available.
