A FRAMES-BASED HYPERTEXT MAINTAINS A SENSE OF GLOBAL CONTEXT. Saper Development's web site utilized framesets to create a structured hypertext. The site's default view features a static logotype, some expository text, and a graphic logo; each contained within a single frame (top left). Clicking a link in the expository text opened a new frame which contains a referenced text or diagram (bottom left). Further clicking a link in the reference pane caused a nested frameset to be loaded, the top containing the original reference text and the bottom displaying a subreference (right). This technique virtually eliminates any need to use the browser's back button, as all of the parent links remain consistently available.
