The following files are intended to illustrate the lexiaProject concepts. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses.
- NEW lexiaReader Spec 0.2: JPEG image shows an increased function set including: global navigation thumbnail preview with markers for images, notes and highlighted passages; thumbnail image previews that hover near the mouse location for easy access; finer granularity control via user preferences; tabs for switching between a markup editor, the reader and a clippings file; and tool controls for placing note, highlighting text, looking up citations and more.
- lexiaReader 0.1 alpha: Proof of concept demo written as a Java Applet. Doesn't contain a lexia parser to break the text into "thought units" and flickers when viewed with some browsers. [Follow this link to get the source code.]
- lexiaReader 0.1 animated: Animated GIF image features text manually broken into lexia units and anti-aliased type. Also shows how an applet could be used in the context of a hypothetical sponsored magazine called WebZine.
- lexiaCombo.mov: Animated QuickTime movie (requires version 3.0) features a highlighted thumbnail image of the text providing a better sense of global context. This quick proof of concept demo also illustrates the integration of thumbnail preview images (users would simply mouseover to expand). Unfortunately, the text wasn't properly anchored when I made this demo and so it jumps around a bit during playback.
